How to apply for a Blue Badge
Blue Badge Benefits
A Blue Badge allows you to park:
- On-street in disabled bays (free, unlimited time in most areas)
- On yellow lines for up to 3 hours (restrictions apply)
- In disabled bays in car parks
Who can use it: The badge is for the disabled person, but anyone can drive them and use the badge while they're in the car.
Eligibility for Children
Under 3 years: Automatically eligible if child needs bulky medical equipment or has medical needs requiring frequent transport
Age 3+: Eligible if:
- Receives higher rate mobility DLA/CDP, OR
- Registered blind, OR
- Cannot walk or has severe difficulty walking
How to apply: Through your local council (England, Wales, NI) or mygov.scot (Scotland). Costs around £10-20. Valid for 3 years.
